One Of The Great Things About Stock Investing

One of the great things about stock market investing is you do not have to do something all the time. In fact, most of the time the best thing that you can do is do nothing. You know, look out of the window, go to the movie, drink beer. Most of the time, people think they have got to jump around and do something and that is when they make mistakes. Just wait, it is going to happen. If you saw some money lying in a corner, you would go over and pick it up, would you not? Well, just wait, and when you see something like that in the investment world, when you know there is money lying over there in the corner, run over and pick it up. That is when you do something.

Investing: It Is Never Easy

I constantly have people tell me how easy it was in the old days. I do not remember when it was ever easy, because when you are in it at the time there are always scores of things that you are worried about - at least I am. I can look back on some of my great triumphs and they may seem easy now, but at the time I am sure I was sitting there sweating and wondering, and saying, "Oh, my God. Is this right? I am doing the right thing?"

Gold: Waiting For The 50 Percent Correction

Gold has not been down 50 percent in many years and that is not normal. Most things go down 50 percent every 3 or 4 years. It is just the way the markets work. If gold were to go down 50 percent that would be 960 dollars an ounce. If it goes to that, I hope I am smart enough to buy a lot more.

Investing: The Reason To Buy Cheap

The reason you want to buy something cheap is so that you do not have much risk; if you are wrong, you are not going to suffer too badly. Buying something cheap does not do you any good on its own.; it might stay cheap for years. You have got to have a reason why it is going to change and why something is going to get better.

Stock Prices Can Go To Zero

Stock prices can go to zero. Commodities cannot. Unlike shares in a company, commodities are real things that are always likely to be worth something to somebody.

Agriculture: Prices Have To Go Up

We are in a period now where the world population is growing, the world is consuming more than it is producing and supply and demand are out of whack.

The price of agriculture goods has to go up, the profitability has to increase a lot and that is why that is a great opportunity.

Goldbugs: Obsession Is Not The Best Investment Philosophy

Today`s gold maniacs are the Goldbug, investors who believe that this ancient precious metal is the only currency with lasting value and that an explosion in its price is ever nigh. A gloomy bunch, the Goldbugs buy gold and hold it as insurance against corporate stupidity, a real estate crash, a stock market meltdown, or the collapse of the U.S. Dollar, not to mention world worldwide financial chaos. Disturbed by visions of their children living in a future shantytown in a deserted area once known as Wall Street, the Goldbugs`solution is to buy more gold, at any price.

This attachment to gold is certainly fascinating from a psychological point of view, but following an obsession is not the best investment philosophy.

Signs That You May Be Over Leveraged

Watching the tape all day on TV, your computer, or at your broker`s office is a good sign that you are hooked on trading and may be over leveraged. Leveraged traders need to watch every trade; their money is depending on the prices going their way. You do not want to be that person.

U.S. Dollar: The Uptrend Needs a Rest

As for the near term, the U.S. dollar has gone straight up in the last few weeks, to my delight. But anything that goes straight up like that, usually needs to have a rest.

I am very bad at market timing but I would expect to be a rest in the U.S. dollar before it resumes its uptrend over the next year or two.

U.S. Stock Market: Overdue For A Big Correction

We are going to have corrections. The stock market in America has not had a 10 percent correction in several years. That is extremely unusual. It certainly has not had a 20 percent correction, so what has been happening in the market in the past few years in America is an anomaly.

So, we are overdue for a correction, but it does not mean it has to happen anytime soon. But we are going to have corrections and eventually they are going to start getting bigger and bigger. And eventually we a re going to have a big one, one of the big ones and the markets are going to go down a great deal and a lll of us are going to suffer very badly.
