Japan: A Good Place To Invest

In Japan, Mr. Abe, starting January 1st, has given the Japanese the option of tax free investing in the stock market. I have been around a long time and every time I have seen a government give tax free incentives for people to invest in the stock market, people do. People are not foolish.  And it has always made the stock market go up.

So, I see reasons for Japan to continue to be an interesting place to invest.

How I Am Playing The Game

The United States stock market is at all time highs. The Japanese stock market is down 60 or 70 percent from its all time highs and Mr. Abe in Japan has no constraints, he can spend as much as he wants, he can print as much as he wants, so I am playing it more in japan than in the United States.

I am playing it in Russia, for instance, where there is surely a very depressed stock market. Everybody hates Russia. It is hated more than an place except maybe Argentina.

The Wild Card: Central Banks

The unknown wild card, for me anyway, is what is going to happen when central banks cut back. America`s central bank says its going to continue to cut back. I suspect they will, until, what happens is: markets around the world start going down, they will start getting scared when markets are down 15 or 20 percent, they will get scared and start printing money again.

Eventually this is going to lead to inflation that everybody notes about.

Investing: Don`t Follow Others

Following each other is a very dangerous thing. Getting a hot tip and then acting on it and doing what other people are doing, that is nearly always a mistake. Nearly every time in my life that I have done something because others said so, it has costed me money.

If You Own Bonds, You Should Sell Them

The peak in bonds was in 2012 and they have been going down since. I am negative on bonds going forward. Bonds were in a bull market from 1981 to 2012. That is 31 years of a bull market. Bonds have been coming down for 18 months. In my view, yields got so low, so very low that they had to go higher. Wether they have to go higher this week, this month or this year, I do not know. If you own bonds you should sell them.

Bullish On Airlines Worldwide

Whenever I find a disaster with change coming, I try to invest because possibly you will make a great deal of money. Now, we can look at things locally and its not because I happen to be in Scandinavia. This is SAS, which is an airline you all know and hate, I am sure. SAS has been a huge disaster over the past several years. I own shares in many airlines but recently I have been buying shares of SAS. I told somebody at Skagen this a couple of days ago and he said, "God, you are crazy! That is a horrible company." I said, I know, its horrible, I know it has been mismanaged, that is why the stock has collapsed, that is why the company almost went bankrupt last year.

So, I am bullish on Airlines worldwide for many reasons but this is to give you an idea of a local boy or girl that I hope it will make good going forward.

All You Need To Know About Agriculture

In the United Kingdom, the highest rate of suicide in any economic sector is agriculture. In India, millions of farmers commit suicide. Farming has been a nightmare for most people. The result is we don`t have any farmers.

More people in America study Public Relations than study agriculture, some major agriculture universities had to close or change because nobody wants to be a farmer. I don`t know what more do you need to know. Agriculture has to change. Prices and profits have to go much higher in agriculture or we are not going to have any food at any price.

Favorite Stock Markets: Japan, Russia & China

Japan, Russia, some parts of China. You know, the Japanese stock markets down 70 percent from its all time highs, America is at an all time high. Normally you are better off buying low and selling high and Mr. Abe has no constraints on his money printing and on his spending. Mr. Abe recently as you may know passed a law making it tax free for the Japanese to invest in the stock market. I have been investing for a long time and every time a country does that, people invest.

China: Finding Places Where The Government Is Going To Invest

They had a big session in November, the Chinese said it was as important as the big session they had in 1978 when Deng Xiaoping said, "we have to change everything we have been doing for the past few hundred years", and then again in 1993, they again changed and opened to the world. So, they say this session was as important as those two. If you read it carefully you might find some places where they are going to put a lot of money and if the Chinese government or any government, especially a big government is going to put a lot of money, I like to put my money there too.

Investments: Short Junk & Government Bonds, Long Airlines & Russia

I am pretty lazy and lethargic but whenever I see an opportunity,  I hope I am smart enough to act. I do have some shorts in junk bonds. I messed up in shorting the bond markets a few times in the last several years. This time its working. Eventually the 30 year bull market in bonds is going to come to an end. It may have come to an end, I don`t know.

As far as other things, when I think I see something that is a good opportunity, I invest. You may remember that I bought some airlines a few years ago, I have been buying more airlines recently. Russia, I was pessimistic about it for 46 years, I am now investing in Russia.

Markets: Be Very Careful

The world has got this artificial situation and it can go on for a while longer. In America there is no constraint at all in Congress and in the Federal Reserve. And no other central bank in the world has any constraint now. So this can go on longer than any of us can expect, including me. But be very careful because it is artificial, The world economy as a whole is not getting much better.
